Joining Lares is a pathway designed to get to know one another. We ask for no binding commitments: every step is an opportunity to discover whether our community is the right place for you. We accompany you from the first conversation to the day you open the door of your new home.
The membership Pathway
Fill in the online form or call us. We'll arrange an introductory video call to listen to your expectations, tell you about life at Lares and answer any questions.
Come to Taurisano to visit the property, explore the area and meet those who already live here. We organise personalised visits all year round — the best way to picture your new life.
Choice of apartment, signing of the contract and setting the move-in date. We accompany you through every practical aspect, including the move and settling into the community.
Who Lares is for
Lares is designed for people aged 65 and over, single or as a couple, who want to live in an environment rich in relationships, stimuli and comfort. There is no nationality limit: ours is an international and multilingual community, where different cultures meet.
We look for curious people who love good food, culture, outdoor life and sharing. Self-sufficient people who consciously choose to live better, together. Pets are welcome.
Lares is not a nursing home or an assisted-living facility: it is a life choice for those who want to age actively, surrounded by an authentic community in the heart of Puglia.

EU/EEA citizens can move freely: just register your residency at the Taurisano town hall within 90 days of arrival. British citizens post-Brexit and non-EU nationals need to apply for an Elective Residence Visa (designed for retirees with demonstrable independent income). Our team guides you through the process and introduces you to local advisors.
Yes. Italy offers a flat 7% tax rate for foreign pensioners who move their tax residence to a Southern Italian municipality with fewer than 20,000 residents (Taurisano qualifies). It applies to your pension and other foreign income for up to 9 years. The matter is technical: we will introduce you to a local tax advisor for a personal assessment.
Yes, once you have legal residence in Italy. EU/EEA citizens can register with the SSN (national health service) free of charge; British and non-EU citizens can register after obtaining their residency permit. Italian healthcare is high quality and low cost. Before residency we cover you with 24/7 telemedicine included in the fee and partnerships with local doctors.
Brindisi airport (1 hour from Taurisano) operates direct flights from London Stansted, Munich, Berlin and Vienna. Bari airport (2 hours) has more international connections. Frecciarossa high-speed trains link Lecce to Rome in 5h and to Milan in 8h30. We arrange dedicated transfers for introductory visits and for new residents.
